Peak Season
November – April
The northeast monsoon brings dry, clear skies, calm seas, and exceptional visibility above and below the water. December through March is the heart of it — near-guaranteed sunshine, flat turquoise water, and the overwater villas and sandbanks at their most idyllic. Visibility for diving and snorkelling reaches 30 metres or more, and whale sharks and manta rays are seasonally active.
Shoulder Season
May & October
The inter-monsoon transition months. Sunshine and showers alternate, seas are calmer than the monsoon proper, and rates at most resorts drop meaningfully. Good value without the full compromise of the wet season.
Off Season
June – September
The southwest monsoon brings heavier rain, rougher seas, and reduced visibility. Rain tends to come in squalls rather than sustained downpours and many days remain partially sunny. Rates drop significantly and the finest resorts are at their quietest — for the traveler who values solitude and exceptional value, this window has its own quiet appeal.
